Health Minister Hon. Dr. Godfrey Farrugia Visited the Traditional Chinese Medicine Centre

The Chinese Ambassador to Malta H.E. Mr. Cai Jinbiao accompanied Hon. Dr. Godfrey Farrugia the Minister for Health during a visit to the Mediterranean Regional Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicine in Paola Wednesday morning 18th December 2013. Mr. Reno Calleja the President of Malta-China Friendship Society also joined the visit.

Dr. Farrugia was shown around the clinic by Dr. Wang Xiaolan, the head of the 11th medical team sent by the Chinese Government to work at the centre. He thanked the team for their excellent work and their remarkable contribution to the Maltese public health service. The Maltese Government, he said, was committed to further enhancing cooperation with China in health sector and a number of encouraging achievements had been registered in this regard since March this year. He pledged full support to the work of the centre so that it would further increase its popularity in Malta.

Explaining to the Minister about the history and current development of the centre, Ambassador Cai said the centre had become a symbol of friendly cooperation between the two governments and had played a vital role in helping local Maltese alleviate pain, spreading traditional Chinese medicine and increasing mutual understanding and friendship. He said China would like to strengthen medical exchange and cooperation with Malta and jointly explore how to further expand the role and popularity of the centre in Malta.
